Hi my essie lovers! Today I am so excited to share with you essie’s new nail care line TREAT, LOVE & COLOUR! Yes, “essie brings a little TLC to its signature sheers”, how excited are we?! TLC is their first advanced 1-step nail care + colour range with 60% less peeling and 30% less breakage in just one week. No base or top coat required!

TREAT: Restore dry, brittle nails to a healthy look in just 1 week

LOVE: Pamper your nails with a formula that locks in moisture and perfects

COLOUR: Enhance nails instantly with visually brightening pigments for a healthy glow

Let’s jump right in to swatching:

‘treat me bright’ – (one thin coat) caring formula with collagen & camellia extract, nails look instantly perfected with brightening sheer powder white pigments

‘sheers to you’ – (one thin coat) caring formula with collagen & camellia extract, nails look instantly perfected with nurturing pink blush pigments

‘laven-dearly’ – (one thin coat) caring formula with collagen & camellia extract, nails look instantly perfected with neutralizing adorable sheer lavender pigments

I have to say that these all really did neutralize and perfect the appearance of my nails. Keeping in mind that this is a CARE line (not regular polish) and is meant to have subtle sheer coverage I really, really love them! Another thing that I love about these TLC shades is that the brush is wider and similar to the Gel Couture brushes (minus the twisted stem) which I think is perfect for sheer shades.

Active ingredients include:

MSM: an essential component of healthy nails, helps maintain nail integrity

COLLAGEN EXTRACT: a protein that provides strength and structure, largely found in the human body

CAMELLIA LEAF EXTRACT: a natural antioxidant extracted from the green tea plant

VISUALLY BRIGHTENING PIGMENTS: colour technology uses micro-fine layering to create subtle luminous effects

I’m dying to know what you guys think? Personally, 2017 has only just begun and I’m already loving all of these new launches from essie (you can check out their new Ballet Nudes collection here).

essie TLC is available in salons and beauty retailers worldwide starting January 2017 (that means right now!) for $11.99. For more information be sure to check out essie.ca

Hi essie lovers! I hope that you are all enjoying the holidays! 🙂 Today I have swatches of the new Gel Couture Ballet Nudes collection. As with most seasonal releases, this collection contains 6 shades – in this case they are all gorgeous neutral cremes! (my favourite)!

“Fashion loves the ballet. The beauty, the wonder and of course, the style. At last, the ballet’s romantic femininity and uncompromising detail graces audiences with gel couture ballet nudes by essie. Take center stage with ballerina finesse in these six magnificently neutral, longwear shades. From misty rose pink to soft shimmer gray, captivate audiences with effortlessly elegant colour and a high quality performance that provides up to 14 days of wear.

Tutus, tights and ballet looks have inspired designers, fashionistas and creatives of all types to envision some of their most iconic creations. essie gel couture debuts these stunning crème nudes that deliver lust-worthy colour and impeccable gel-like shine. You can leap, plié and pirouette for weeks with a long-lasting essie manicure, and all in just 2 easy steps.

Step into your satin slipper and meet me at the barre – let’s dance a pirouette or two before closing night starts. when the curtain is drawn and the spotlight is on, hold the position with perfect posture like a prima ballerina. whether you lace me up or lace me down, my ballet nudes look on pointe.” – essie Canada press release

‘satin slipper’ This was the only shade in the whole collection that needed 3 (thin) coats – it is a really pretty pale pink/beige shade with the slightest shimmer throughout.

‘lace me up’ I am totally obsessed with pale pink shades and this one is no exception. 2 coats and you’re left with this cream perfection.

‘at the barre’ I really love this one also, it’s a great neutral and the formula is amazing!

‘hold the position’ Again, a perfect formula and I love the colour (I don’t know why but it seems to look much better in person).

‘perfect posture’ My favourite out of the collection (although how can I pick just 1?) I am currently wearing this shade right now and will be repeatedly through the new year.

‘closing night’ I also love how they included a grey/purple shimmer in this collection. It’s gorgeous!

I don’t know about you guys but I will be wearing these on repeat through January.. it’s the perfect post holiday collection and a great palate cleanser! As you can see I don’t have any complaints – the formulas are amazing and shade selection on point! I hope that you all love this collection as much as I do!

The essie Gel Couture Ballet Nudes collection will be available at beauty salons and mass retailers starting January 2017. For more information be sure to check out essie Canada and @essiecanada.

Hi lovelies, I can’t believe that it’s officially holiday season! Between baking holiday treats, prepping for parties and spending time with family and loved ones it truly is the most wonderful time of the year! It’s also my favourite time of the year for nail art! Coordinating your *holiday nails* to match the traditional red-white-green shades of the season, however, may seem a tad over the top. I used to love painting all of that stuff on my nails growing up, but now? Not so much. But just because I’m not painting Santa Claus on my nails this year doesn’t mean that they won’t be festive!

I opted to stick with chic holiday themed nails this year using five gorgeous shades from Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel Holiday collection: Bordeaux Glow, Boho a-Go-Go, Midnight Mod, V-Amplified and Game of Chromes. Miracle Gel is an easy two-step zero light gel system, more chip-resistant than regular polish. It can last up to 14 days so you won’t have to worry about your mani lasting through the holidays (and it removes easily with regular polish remover)!

Here are four of my favourite, festive and fun nail art looks to get you in the holiday mood:

TWISTED PEPPERMINT HOLIDAY NAILS

look-1-bordeaux-glow-get-mod

Candy canes are a staple in my house during the holidays, so I decided to re-create them on my nails. I love this look because it’s festive yet so wearable (not to mention super cute)!

  1. Apply two coats of Sally Hansen Miracle Gel shade Get Mod
  2. With a striping brush create your “twists” using Sally Hansen Miracle Gel shade Bordeaux Glow
  3. Repeat on each nail, you can use a striping brush dipped in acetone to clean up if any of your “twists” aren’t perfect
  4. Finish with a generous coat of Sally Hansen Miracle Gel topcoat for extra shine

FESTIVE COLOUR BLOCK NAILS

look-2-colorblock-midnight-mod-goc-vamplified

One of the trendiest nail looks this season is this retro-chic 60’s inspired colour block, pair that with this season’s most coveted shades and your nails are sure to make a lasting impression!

  1. Apply two coats of Sally Hansen Miracle Gel shade V-Amplified and let dry
  2. Using a striping brush and Sally Hansen Miracle Gel shade Game of Chromes, create a diagonal line and fill it in, repeat on all nails
  3. Again using your striping brush take Sally Hansen Miracle Gel shade Midnight Mod and create another diagonal stripe this time going the opposite way and fill it in, repeat on all nails
  4. Seal your look with Sally Hansen Miracle Gel topcoat for an ultra-shiny, durable finish

EASY NEGATIVE SPACE NAILS

look-3-boho-a-go-go

Sometimes less is more during the holidays, I’ve been obsessing over purple nails this season and have been wearing this shade non-stop – adding a negative space aspect to this look really brings it all together in a modern yet edgy way!

  1. Apply two coats of Sally Hansen Miracle Gel shade Boho a-Go-Go on all nails except your ring and pointer finger nails
  2. Take a striping brush to create two parallel lines on your pointer and ring finger nails and fill them in leaving a bare space in the centre of your nails with Sally Hansen Miracle Gel shade Boho a-Go-Go.
  3. Seal in your look for long-lasting shine with Sally Hansen Miracle Gel topcoat

CHIC NEW YEARS EVE NAILS

look-4-nye-goc-vamplified

The perfect look to pair with your LBD on New Years Eve! These nails bring an elevated sense of style and luxury to any outfit.

  1. Using Sally Hansen Miracle Gel shade Game of Chromes and a striping brush create a horizontal line near your cuticle and fill in, repeat on all nails
  2. Follow with Sally Hansen Miracle Gel shade V-Amplified to create another horizontal line, this time at the top of your nail, leaving a bare section in the centre of your nail and fill in, repeat on all nails
  3. Complete your look with Sally Hansen Miracle Gel topcoat, making sure to cap the edges

For those of you who prefer to keep things simple with a solid mani through the holiday season, the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Holiday Collection has some gorgeous shade choices!

bordeaux-glow

‘Bordeaux Glow’ is THE perfect rich metallic red to get you in the holiday spirit! Unlike most metallic shades, this one applies evenly and doesn’t leave any streaks.

v-amplified

‘V-Amplified’ is a stunning deep red that becomes opaque with two thin coats. I love how shiny it becomes once paired with Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel topcoat.

boho-a-go-go

‘Boho a-Go-Go’ is a gorgeous, glossy aubergine – I’ve been obsessed with purple polish lately and this shade has been my go-to!

midnight-mod

‘Midnight Mod’ is a deep, dark blue hue and has been one of my favourite’s through fall and winter. It applies evenly with one coat making it an easy choice for a quick, polished look!

game-of-chromes

‘Game of Chromes’ isn’t your average gold polish as it has micro sparkles embedded throughout. I love wearing this shade alone, with nail art or even as an accent nail.

These fun, festive shades and minimally chic nail designs are sure to make you stand out this holiday season! Don’t forget to always start with clean, bare nails when using Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel polish. I like to use a quick swipe of acetone before starting, as this will help the polish adhere to your nail and last longer. If you feel your nails need a little more TLC you can start with a thin coat of Sally Hansen’s Nail Rehab as a base.

In Canada, Sally Hansen Miracle Gel nail polishes retail at $11.95 and can be found at mass retailers and drugstores (with 70 shades to choose from)! Check out Sally Hansen Canada and @sallyhansenca for more information.

Hi my loves, happy almost Halloween! Every year, the weeks leading up to Halloween are taken over by deciding what to costume to wear. Between what to dress up as, what you’ll be doing and how you’ll beautify yourself it can become somewhat overwhelming! Of course nail art always adds that extra little something to any costume yet year after year we constantly see the same old designs, so I decided it would be cool to try something different this year!

I’ve teamed up once again with Sally Hansen to create three easy, fun Halloween nail looks that anyone can master in a few simple steps! Because the last thing you want to be thinking about on Halloween is if your nails will chip, I used polishes from the Miracle Gel collection – no UV light required! Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel line has over 70 shades in Canada so there’s no shortage of colours when it comes to nail art, and in two easy steps you’re left with a chip-resistant mani that can last up to 14 days. Plus, the fact that it removes easily with regular nail polish remover is super convenient.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s totally fine if you want to paint your nails black, or stick with the basics and call it a day but what better way to celebrate one of the funnest holidays then to celebrate in style by taking Snapchat’s most popular filters straight to your fingertips?

If you follow me on Snapchat (laurenslist) then you already know that I’m totally filter-obsessed! Today, I’m sharing my top three favourite Snapchat filters and how to easily re-create them on your nails:
